The following documents shall be submitted:

1. Application form    

2. Copies of your education degree certificates with supplements (e.g. certificate and transcript with a list of courses and final grades). 

All foreign degree certificates (diplomas)  must be translated into Russian,  notarized, and legalized in the country where issued. Besides, all foreign degree certificates (diplomas) shall get recognition by HSE relevant authorities. 

3. Copy of your passport 
4. 4 photos (3x4 sm)

 Supporting documents

Different Doctoral schools may have different requirements.  Please contact the PhD Admission Office you are applying to for details before submitting your application.
You may also need to supply one or more of the following:

- Research proposal devoted to the topic you are going to investigate in your doctoral research (essay)

- Copy of publications 

- Confirmation of your essay topic by your prospective academic supervisor (can be part of recommendation letter)

- Letters of recommendation

- CV (resume)

- Motivation letter

and other personal achivments (if any)

Only for Full-time Advanced Doctoral Programme: 
- Valid language proficiency certificate (English, French or German)
>English - TOEFL, IELTS, FCE, CAE, BEC Vantage / Higher (you may submit any of the certificates)
>German - B2, C1, ZOP, KDP, GDP, TestDaF, ZDfB, PWD (for applicants for Doctoral school of History, Doctoral school of Philisophy or Doctoral school of Philology only)
>French - DELF B2, DALF C1 (for applicants for Doctoral school of History, Doctoral school of Philisophy or Doctoral school of Philology only)

Application deadline
All documents must be presented to the PhD Admission Office by the deadline according to the selected type of place: Full-Tuition Scholarships or Tuition Fee Scheme. 

It's possible to apply via on-line application form

Hard copies can be delivered either in person or through post (we recommend DHL or FedEx):
Higher School of Economics, Office of Doctoral programmes, 20, Myasnitskaya, Moscow, Russia, 101000. 

Incomplete or late applications will not be processed. 

Procedure for Recognition of Foreign Education and (or) Qualifications

This Procedure outlines the rules for recognizing foreign education and (or) a foreign qualification for the purpose of educating and hiring citizens at HSE University.

1. Fill out an Application through your personal account
Recognition is free of charge! The duration of the procedure is no more than 14 days.
2. The decision on the recognition of the education you have received will be sent to the e-mail address specified in the application following the results of consideration of the documents.
