While there is no doubt that biomedical research should be digitized, currently most research projects are carried out on a stand-alone basis. It is often the case that a new database with its unique markup is privately created for a specific study. At its best, the collected data then becomes available for verification by other scientists, but the reuse of existing datasets for other studies is often complicated. This is largely due to the variety of biomedical indicators and the complexity of their markup and storage.
There were quite successful attempts to solve this problem in the field of genomics, but a significant part of biomedical research is associated with non-genetic data such as ECG and EEG indices, clinical indicators of biological fluids, body temperature, etc. Data from wearable devices represents yet another important source of data about a person's condition.
We are going to propose a new approach to biomedical research by developing a novel architectural solution for biomedical data collection, storage, and mining.
