EMAC Launches its 1st EMAC Junior Faculty & Doctoral Student Research Camp

September 1-2, 2016

University of Vienna, Austria

Dear EMAC member,

The EMAC Junior Faculty & Doctoral Student Research Camp is a new EMAC initiative with the aim of raising the research capability of new/young researchers embarking on an academic career. The camp is intended as forum for

(a) providing high-level research and career advice to next-generation researchers by senior/established EMAC scholars, and

(b) offering opportunities for close interaction among young researchers (both junior faculty and PhD students) from different countries.

The first EMAC Research Camp will be hosted by the University of Vienna (Faculty of Economics, Business & Statistics, Oskar-Morgenstern-Platz 1, 1090 Vienna, Austria) on September 1-2, 2016.

Format & Faculty

The camp is planned as a two-day annual event targeted at both junior faculty and PhD students (at an advanced/final stage; some already teaching) who will have the opportunity to present their research/planned publications and receive extensive feedback and advice from leading EMAC scholars. Through the ensuing discussion, issues related to personal career development will also be covered.

Faculty:

·        Prof. DDr. Adamantios Diamantopoulos, Chair of International Marketing, University of Vienna; EMAC Fellow

·        Prof. DDr. Udo Wagner, Chair of Marketing, University of Vienna; EMAC Fellow

·        Prof. Dr. Gerrit van Bruggen, Professor of Marketing, Erasmus University; EMAC President

·        Prof. Dr. Franziska Völckner, Professor of Marketing, University of Cologne

·        Prof. Dr. Martin Natter, Chair of Marketing, University of Zurich

The camp is limited to 24 participants selected on the basis of proposals submitted to the Research Camp Faculty Group.

Submission Guidelines

Candidates should submit an abstract of their research, in which they

(a) outline the research problem and position it against existing literature,

(b) highlight the intended theoretical and managerial contribution,

(c) describe and justify the methodology adopted, and

(d) present some key results and conclusions.

·         Submitted abstracts must not be longer than 7 pages in total(incl. cover/title page, references, tables and figures).

  • Name of the candidate and, in the case of PhD students, the name(s) of the thesis advisor(s) and relevant contact details should appear on the first page of the abstract.
  • Candidates also need to complete a standard form(which can be downloaded HERE). On this form, candidates should also indicate whether they already have a PhD or are in the process of completing one.

The deadline for submission is April 30, 2016.

All submissions will be evaluated by the Faculty Group and notification of acceptance/rejection will be sent by June 15, 2016 at the latest.

Please send the above mentioned documents (research abstracts and form) to emac.camp@univie.ac.at  no later than April 30, 2016. Accepted proposals in each track will be made available to all registered participants in that track to allow everyone to prepare in advance for the discussions.
