Doctoral schools provide an opportunity for international doctoral students to undertake part of their study or research at HSE. The university offers two types of traineeships – research and study. The study stay involves taking courses from the HSE doctoral schools. The research stay offers the opportunity to work with a particular academic advisor or at an international research laboratory or centre; gain access to international full-text and abstract databases, journals and books; and attend graduate seminars.

The funding will be allocated on a competitive basis. The first round of applications has already started and will run until October 15, 2016.
The Journal of Economic Sociology has been accepted for inclusion into Scopus, the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature. The Journal of Economic Sociology has successfully gone through a review process and evaluation governed by The Content Selection & Advisory Board (CSAB), with the participation of international experts. Integration of the Journal of Economic Sociology’s content into Scopus coverage is expected in the near future.

On February the 2nd, 2016 the on-site review of the proposal for the German-Russian PhD Programme «Informality and Institutions. A Russian-German Comparative Perspective» submitted to the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) took place in Berlin.
Several international conferences in sociology took place this summer. The European Sociological Association conference took place in Prague, the British Sociological Association Sociology of Religion Study Group conference was held in Great Britain, a conference on sociology of monasticism took place in Austria, and Russia hosted a conference on ‘Sociology of Religion in Late Modernity’. Ksenia Medvedeva, an HSE doctoral student, told us about her participation in these events.
