To order an HSE pass, please contact the manager of the Doctoral School to which you plan to apply.

The HSE campuses in Nizhny Novgorod and St. Petersburg also admit candidates to the Doctoral Programme.

Examination location: Moscow (for those applying to HSE in Nizhny Novgorod, examinations are held in Nizhny Novgorod; for those applying to HSE in St. Petersburg, examinations are held in St. Petersburg).

! Only those who have submitted the full package of documents are admitted to entrance examinations.

! Entrance examinations to the Doctoral Programme are evaluated on a 5-point scale; 5, 4, and 3 are considered passing scores; 1 and 2 are not passing scores.

! International language certificates are considered the equivalent of entrance examinations in foreign languages (the conversion scale of certificate results in points is indicated in paragraph 3.9 of the Admissions Rules).

! Documents can be sent via mail with delivery notification and a list of enclosures.

! Non-resident applicants are offered a dormitory (100 spots in two dormitories are available). The dormitory costs around 1000 RUB a month.



In 2010, HSE launched its first research laboratories where academic supervision is conducted jointly by renowned leading international and HSE researchers. HSE’s doctoral students have an opportunity to join research projects at these laboratories or write their papers under the supervision of the laboratories’ staff. International laboratories enrol doctoral students together with other academic departments at HSE.



 

Acceptance

After submitting your application package and passing the entry exams, you must wait for the Examination Committee to make its decision on admission.Successful candidates will be admitted starting from November 1.

Fees & Funding

Doctoral students at HSE do not pay tuition fees.

HSE is now accepting applications from international candidates who seek to enter doctoral programs fully funded by Russian government quota grants.

  Awarded a Russian Government Quota Scheme scholarship 


There is also an Advanced Doctoral Programme where students receive a monthly stipend of 30 000 RUB. Studies in the Advanced Doctoral Programme take place only on a full-time basis.
