Аssessment

The goal of assessment is to ensure that the programme is completed in due time, it contains the planned components (research, courses, teaching), the doctoral student demonstrate the progress he/she has made.

Biannual assessments



Sping assessment

 (May-June)

Objectives: Spring assessment is a time to re-check your plans and review your expectations.

Format:The doctoral student must draw up a midterm report (the completed Study plan elements and the completed research activities, the list of publications (if any)).
The midterm report must be signed by the doctoral student and the supervisor.

Spring assessment takes the form of a meeting between the doctoral student,  the supervisor, the Department staff, other doctoral students and their supervisors to discuss the midterm report.  The doctoral student must present his/her midterm report and answer the questions.

The possible conclusions are as follows:

-  progress of study satisfactory (doctoral  student follow the Study plan);

-  progress of study not entirely satisfactory (doctoral  student follow the Study plan partly);

- progress of study not satisfactory (doctoral  student does not follow the Study plan).

The midterm report must be finally approved by a head of department and the head of the Doctoral school.

Fall assessment

 (October)

Objectives: Fall assessment is a time to check your progress made during the year, in which you receive feedback on your progress.

Format: The doctoral student must draw up a midterm report (the completed Study plan elements and the completed research activities, the list of publications (if any)) and a Study plan for the next period of study. The annual report must be signed by the doctoral student and the supervisor.

Fall assessment takes the form of a meeting between the doctoral student,  the supervisor, the Department staff, other doctoral students and their supervisors to discuss the annual report.  The doctoral student must present his/her annual report and answer the questions.

The possible conclusions are as follows:

-  progress of study satisfactory (doctoral  student follow the Study plan);

- progress of study not satisfactory (doctoral  student does not follow the Study plan).

The assessment is not to be postponed by the decision of the Department.

The annual report must be then approved by a head of department and the head of the Doctoral school.

The annual report must be finally approved at the meeting of the Assessment Committee. The Committee includes the heads of the Doctoral Schools, a supervising Vice Rector, and a Director of Office of Doctoral Studies. The Department staff may also be invited to the meeting if necessary.

The Assessment Committee makes a final decision on transfer of doctoral student to the next year of study or on his/her dismissal.
