Entry exams for Spring application are held on April 1 - 17.
Entry exams for Fall application are held on September 28 -October 16.

1. Foreign language (English, French, German, Spanish)
Entrance examinations in a foreign language are evaluated on 50-point evaluation system. The score from 1 to 15 points is considered unsatisfactory. Evaluation of 15-50 points is considered satisfactory.
If you submit an internationally recognized language certificate in English, the foreign language exam requirement is waived.
If you apply for Doctoral school of History, Doctoral school of Philisophy or Doctoral school of Philology you may also submit an internationally recognized language certificate in French or in German.
Applicants who have completed an English-taught Master's programme do not have to take an exam in Foreign language.
Also applicants for Doctoral school of History, Doctoral school of Philisophy or Doctoral school of Philology who have completed a French-taught or German-taught or Spanish-taught Master's programme do not have to take an exam in Foreign language.
Native speakers of English do not have to take an exam.
Entrance examinations in the specialty are assessed on a 100-point assessment system.The score from 1 to 30 points is considered unsatisfactory. An evaluation of 30-100 points is considered satisfactory.Minimum scores (unsatisfactory grades) for individual elements of the admission test in the specialty are contained in the entrance examination programs for the specialty for individual competitions.
Examination location: Moscow (for those applying to HSE in Nizhny Novgorod, examinations are held in Nizhny Novgorod; for those applying to HSE in St. Petersburg, examinations are held in St. Petersburg).
The exam may be taken via Internet call services Skype (or equivalent). Permission must be sought from the Doctoral school at an early stage.
